OH NO III was one of over seventy boats crafted by Emerson Willard, who built her in 1985 for his retirement. For a decade, Willard and his wife often cruised North Carolina waters and reached as far south as Sanford, Fl., along the headwaters of the St. Johns River. She was laid up for years preceding his death at 104 and rescued last year by friends who pulled her from his hurricane damaged shop that threatened to fall down on top of her. Her ketch rig, shoal draft, mast tabernacles, fixed gas, water and wastewater holding tanks made her ideal for their solo, sound and coastal river cruising. Her hull is fiberglass reinforced marine plywood. Draft is 18 with board up. Over the past year she has undergone an extensive refit and minor repairs to the hull and rig. Currently on the hard in Wilmington, NC. |
