Description: |
High-Latitude Aluminum Expedition Sailboat - 1982 41' Dufour A9000 - for sale for $40,000
S/V High Climber has the potential to reach any edge of the watery map. The A9000s were built by Dufour in La Rochelle, France. Hull #1 was the 1980 French entrant into the Admirals Cup, the now-defunct championship of offshore sailing in the North Atlantic. They were designed and built to win races in a notoriously stormy and violent patch of ocean and have the construction to show.
During my ownership I have prioritized keeping High Climber always in a high state of readiness for sailing and expeditioning and focused mainly on performance upgrades. The boat has been improved in my ownership. That being said, it would best go to an experienced boat person who wants to buy into offshore and high-latitude expedition sailing at an affordable price, in return for regular investments and input of sweat equity. The above-waterline coatings are solid but aesthetically poor at this point. The standing rig is aging and while I have just purchased a new carbon laminate mainsail, the headsails are beginning to show their age. There is a problem spot on the keel which will require a round of welding.
The boat is priced according to these needs. I have sailed Climber many thousands of miles and hope to sell it to someone who would continue in this tradition with a similar mindset. If that might be you, please get in touch. Max |
