Description: |
Westsail 32. Panacea 1978, Hull #714
We are Panaceas second owners and acquired her in 2019. We lived onboard and worked on restoring her for 2 years. Last summer we traveled from Los Angeles north to Eureka California, passing Points Conception and Mendocino along the way. Now that we no longer live on her, its time to pass Panacea on to someone who will appreciate the work poured into her and continue to care for her. |
Equipment: |
Fordeck: New Bowsprit with original teak platforms New Sampson posts New lewmar windlass w/ manual backup New Vulcan20 anchor w/ 350 of High tension chain Foredeck has been newly painted with awlgrip. Nonskid is kiwigrip Hank-on Jib Hank-on Staysail with boom
Mid Boat: -New 316 Stainless Rigging with lower Stayloc fittings. -New Awlgrip paint on Mast and Boom -New tips fabricated for spreaders -New Spreader Brackets -New VHF antenna and cabling -New B&G Radar added -New Tri-color/photo sensitive anchor light -New Chainplates (Boomkin-stay-tangs also replaced but not whisker-stay-tangs) -Extra tall anodized lifeline stanchions with new dyneema lifelines -3 Barlow #16 bronze halyard winches Also: -Spreader lights were replaced with LED but I mis-wired them so they are currently not working -The original outhaul slug for the mainsail welded itself to the boom and snapped off in the sail track. I havent finished filing it out yet because I just slipped a new outhaul slug behind it and it has worked fine so far. -The Cabin has also been newly painted with awlgrip and kiwigrip but the bulwark and walkways along the sides have not yet been painted.
Cockpit: -New stainless steel boomkin with stern pulpit and arch -Monitor Windvane -New pelagic autopilot for when not under sail -High Tensile Danforth 35 anchor with 50 of chain and 250 of rhode -2 Barient #28 two-speed self tail winches for Jib sheets -Frankensteined dodger that we salvaged from another boat. No its not pretty but it does improve the quality of life while traveling. -The cockpit has also been painted with awlgrip and kiwigrip except for the cockpit floor which needs sanding and painting
Engine: -Volvo MD11c -Emergency hand crank -45 gallon fuel capacity (30gal tank in engine room under pilot berth. 15gal tank under starboard settee -New Raccor filter -New thermostat Galley:: -3 burner shipmate stove -Deep 2-basin sink with Whale foot pump for freshwater -Icebox
Main Salon: -Sit down Chart Table -Pilot Berth aft of chart table -Starboard side settee/sea berth with lee cloth. Bookshelf and radio above -Port side dinette table with seating/seaberth. Bookshelf above -76 gallons of freshwater located in two 38 gallon bilge tanks -Large openable portholes with bronze insect screens.
Forward: -While there is a holding tank and a head onboard, we never got around to installing them. There is a saltwater inlet as well as a discharge seacock for a head, already installed. -Starboard side there are drawers and a hanging locker -New Mattress in port side V-berth -The chain locker bulkhead had rotted out from a leaky samson post during the previous owners tenure. It was a separation bulkhead rather than a structural one so-while the rot was removed and samson posts replaced, there is a vinyl curtain separating the chain locker rather than a wooden hatch. -A leak that caused the blistering of veneer above the v-berth has been fixed but the blister in the veneer remains.
Electronics: -New B&G charplotter and radar screen -Garmin fishfinder for use as depth sounder while anchoring -Vhf Radio |
