16' Hobie Getaway 16'

Includes Trapeze wires and Med/Lg Magic Marine Trapeze shoulder harness. In the trapeze, the Getaway is almost as fast as a Hobie 17. And you get the fore and aft tramps and capability to carry 1050 lbs ( 6 adults). The Hobie 17 can only carry 2 adults without sinking the hull with 2 people on it. The boardless skeg hull design makes the Getaway ideal for surfing onto a sandy beach. (From experience, the kick up daggerboards on the Hobie 17 tend to get plugged with sand when surfing in .)

A custom outboard mount is included on the starboard side of the front cross bar which can hold a Torqueedo Travel 1003 self contained electric outboard. A clever block system is provided for the torqueedo for raising (blue rope) ,holding and lowering(green rope) , holding the outboard in position for sailing (up position) or down (motoring position) Great for maneuvering in crowded anchorages. Torqueedo speed control is mounted atop the starboard hull storage box connected with a Torqueedo control extension cord, for easy reach from the rear tramp.

Single axle trailer included with 3/4 marine ply deck. On the trailer deck (accessed from the rear) is a goodie box for transporting the rudders, tiller bar and tiller extension, and also the ginpole for raising /lowering the mast. Im 75 years old and can do all the set up and take down solo. The mainhalyard is run over the ginpole and hooked to the trailer winch to raise and lower the mast. On the starboard side of the goodie box is a 10 diameter PVC sail tube which easily holds the rolled up main with all battens in place. (Roll the main with battens , on the rear tramp from the bottom up when lowering the main.) On the port side of the goodie box is an area big enough for 24 beach wheels with axle. (beach wheels not included)

Boat and trailer have been tarped and shed kept since 2017. The 420 lb. Getaway Is now too heavy for a 5-7 tall old man.
